Description

Here is my sketch for the sword props I'll be making for my Kirito cosplay outfit. I wanted to bring them to Animecon, but apparently, they are not allowed there. Such a sham :o! But, to complete the outfit and to have something nice to wear during the February holidays and partying during carnival (no idea if you know that :p), I am still making the swords!
This blueprint, along with the Elucidator, are two swords featured in the anime "Sword Art Online", as the weapons of the main protagonist Kirito, or Kirigaya Kazuto. This sword, called the Dark Repulser (ダークリパルサ), was made out of a special dragon-stone that could only be gathered from the stone dragon itself. In the end, they found crystallized feces which was exactly what they were looking for, and took that with them instead. I've already started drawing this out life-size on a piece of wood, and will get to cutting it out on Friday :)

Anyway, let me know what you think !

And also let me know if you're going to Animecon!

Uzimachi; if you make one and that part is too long, take some time and whittle or sand down that portion to your comfort. It should still look pretty good, but comfort is a big thing when cosplaying or dealing with props and costumes in general. You can always downsize, but adding after the fact is much more difficult
Magicalbjorn; this is fantastic! This will definately help me in my cross references to design my own as I replicate it in various forms and materials. I agree with Uzimachi that the cross guard seems to be a bit long, but that may also just be from the looking at it oriented that way or the fact that I'm viewing it on my cell phone's little screen. Well made, please keep it up!
